Hi! I’m Jessica Clark, founder of Clark Tutoring. I am a passionate educator with experience working with students from PK4 through 12th grade in both academic and student-support settings. My goal is to help students grow not only in their academic skills, but also in their confidence, independence, and ability to succeed long term.
My background combines 20 years in education, psychology, and counseling, allowing me to support the whole student, not just the assignment in front of them. I hold:
Through my experience as an educator, I have developed a strong specialty in:
I understand that many students are capable of success but struggle with time management, organization, focus, motivation, or knowing how to study effectively. I work closely with students to build practical systems and habits that help them feel more prepared, less overwhelmed, and more confident in school.
At Clark Tutoring, I believe every student can grow with the right support, encouragement, and strategy. My approach is patient, personalized, and focused on helping students become more independent learners both inside and outside the classroom.
Whether your child needs academic support, executive functioning coaching, or help developing stronger study habits, I am committed to helping them build the skills they need to thrive.
Academic tutoring focuses on helping students strengthen specific skills in reading, writing, language arts, study skills, and content-area learning. Sessions are personalized to each student's needs and may include homework support, skill remediation, enrichment, test preparation, and strategies for classroom success. The goal is not just to improve grades, but to help students become more confident and independent learners.
Executive function coaching helps students develop the skills they need to manage school successfully. This includes organization, time management, planning, prioritizing, task initiation, study habits, accountability, and self-monitoring. Rather than focusing only on academic content, coaching teaches students how to manage their workload, meet deadlines, and take ownership of their learning.
This comprehensive assessment provides a detailed snapshot of a student's academic strengths, challenges, and learning habits. Through parent interviews, student surveys, skill assessments, and observation, I identify areas of growth and create a personalized learning plan with specific recommendations, goals, and action steps. Parents receive a written report that serves as a roadmap for future tutoring, coaching, and academic support.
Many students know the material but struggle to show what they know on tests. These sessions focus on effective study techniques, note-taking strategies, test preparation, memory techniques, and reducing test anxiety. Students learn practical methods they can use across all subjects and grade levels.
Reading support helps students improve comprehension, vocabulary, fluency, and critical thinking skills. Sessions are tailored to the student's current reading level and focus on helping them understand what they read, think deeply about texts, and become more confident readers. Writing support helps students become stronger, more confident writers. Students learn how to organize their thoughts, develop paragraphs and essays, revise their work, and write for different purposes. Sessions focus on building writing skills while reducing the frustration many students experience when faced with a blank page.
Some students don't need additional instruction; they need structure and accountability. These sessions provide guided support for completing assignments, managing long-term projects, organizing materials, and developing productive work habits. Students learn how to stay on track while gradually becoming more independent.
The transition to middle school often requires students to become significantly more independent. Coaching focuses on organization, planner use, managing multiple teachers, studying effectively, and handling increased academic expectations. The goal is to help students build confidence before small struggles become major frustrations.
High school coaching helps students navigate increasing academic demands while preparing for college and future opportunities. Areas of focus may include time management, study skills, executive functioning, course planning, goal setting, motivation, and accountability.
